Do the Democrats Really Want to Go There?

March 3rd, 2008 at 11:56am Seattle

Following up on Matt’s post below on Glora Steinem’s derisive comments, it appears Sen. Clinton’s campaign is now trashing Sen. McCain’s time in the military. Specifically, Wes Clark employs the canard that McCain’s experience as a fighter pilot and POW don’t alone prepare him to be Commander in Chief. I agree. That in and of itself doesn’t qualify Sen. McCain for the job.

Of course, there’s a few qualifications that Clark conveniently leaves out. James Joyner of Outside the Beltway Blog lays out some of them:

But McCain’s experience isn’t limited to that Clark had as a mere company commander in Vietnam; he rose to the rank of captain (equivalent to an Army/Air Force/Marine colonel) and did a tour as the Navy’s liaison to the United States Senate. He followed that with four years in the United States House of Representatives and another 22 as a United States Senator. He’s a former Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee and is now the committee’s Ranking Member.

Be sure to check out James Joyner’s full post  at Outside the Beltway Blog.

He has more experience than Hilary, and I’m sorry, even if he weren’t an officer - the leadership, responsibility and loyalty that ANY branch of the military teaches you makes any president stronger for it!

Cheap shot Hilary, as a woman, I’m appalled at your actions.

John McCain is well qualified to be the President of the United States. I hope he hold true to his principles and does not bend to the will of the neocons.

Wes Clark is DEAD ON RIGHT IN HIS comments re: McCain. While a respected senator and war hero, he does not sound either fit or capable of running America. The last thing we need is 4 more years of warmed over Bush; and McCain sounds more and more like warmed over Reagan - 2nd term. America is ready for change, and McCain is offering the same crap we’ve had for the last 8 years. He is out of touch, and incapable of moving this country FORWARD - WE DON’T NEED TO GO BACKWARD - BEEN THERE, DONE THAT!

    B. O. Refuses to salute our flag or sing our Anthem. See the actual footage above. McCain should use this footage for one of his powerful ad’s. This speaks volumes to all Americans. He actually said this:
“As I’ve said about the flag pin, I don’t want to be perceived as taking sides,” Obama said. “There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song ‘I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing.’ If that were our anthem, then I might salute it.”

Read once in a while. That was debunked. For your simple mind… that means it was proven to be a lie.

So go on and shout from the rooftops about the national anthem and the flag pin.

    You are a sad individual.

Gen Wesley Clark’s allegation of hallucination is not new. Based on rumors, he was asked to resign for insubordination. If true, this time is heading to a treason (independent state of Texas alike) Frankly, who will consider the fact that a marijuana addict and media ‘dog’ with only service experience a look alike Army is more fit to the office of the US Presidency than a Vietnam hero (5 years war jail with good mind) and super star Senator including McCain-Feingold bill against campaign corruption,..? that is the question
Smile General and just say no to WEED or VEEP campaign
