The New York Times Tries Again To Smear McCain

March 8th, 2008 at 12:37pm Matt Margolis

Yesterday, I started receiving emails about John McCain “losing his temper” with a New York Times reporter who had decided to ask him about John Kerry’s approaching him in 2004 to be his running mate. I did not get to see any footage of the encounter until I got home late last night, but when I finally saw it, I couldn’t help but laugh.

If that’s what the New York Times calls “losing his temper” then I can only wonder what the New York Times really thinks about the attitudes of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton on the campaign trail. Be it during a debate or on the stump, they both have been considerably more belligerent to eachother than john McCain was to New York Times reporter Elizabeth Bumiller, who asked a rather silly question.

UPDATE: More from Ankle Biting Pundits.

FLASHBACK: Obama halts press conference, losses temper with press.

As I said on the youtube site, if THIS is the famed McCain temper, we have nothing to worry about.

That’s without even getting into the total lack of professionalism with the “why are you so angry?” question.

Glad to see the whole video and not just the clip shown on the news. I think he would be well justified if he lost his temper with the NYT, but that looked like annoyance at a stupid question not anger.

I think this is veiled age discrimination taking place. A similar “hit job” was attempted on Reagan when Carter’s people asked if the country wanted old man Reagan’s hand on the button (of course, I’m paraphrasing). The innuendo is that an old, cranky (e.g. temper) man will be running this country, and that’s an easy target for the NY Times and some Democrats. I say we send Senator McCain’s mother on these critics!

This smear campaign from the New York Times and the DNC shows exactly how terrified the Democrats are about McCain being the nominee.

That really isen’t McCain being angry, it’s him being high spirited. This was a funny video.

This is a perfect example of the NYT trying to make itself relevant again. What a joke.

It’s remarkable how quick the TIMES and other media outlets have rethought their position on Sen. McCain now that their conception of him as a foil of the Republican Party has been challenged by the fact that he is our nominee for President.

Hopefully there will be many more times during this campaign when we get to step back and ask, “Where did all the FACTS go?”
