Your argument is weak. Instead of speaking of the specific case and circumstances of Sen. McCain, congressive, you prefer to stay general and simply hold that the age of 70 is a magical number that, once reached, causes immediate and irreversible senility. That might be true of some septuagenarians, but is not the case with Sen. McCain himself. It is conspicuous to all who read this that you absolutely refuse to focus on him instead of speaking in bogus absolute generalities.

No, actually, it's pretty much the same, except that only a few hundred lives are at stake, as is the welfare of millions of dollars worth of technology, not trillions of dollars worth of national treasure. There's a co-pilot, you know, so it's not as if the pilot is the only thing keeping the 747 in the air, and yet they still forbid 72-year-olds from running the cockpit.

It's just too stressful to leave the job in the hands of a septagenerian+. The end result of such folly is that critical decisions are left to underlings, undermining the organizational chain of command, leading to things like Reagan having to apologize for trading arms for hostages, even though he personally was not culpable.

That's disingenuous, congressive. Lives are at stake in a different way when you're piloting a 747 then when you are President. Does Sen. McCain have the experience, temperament, and judgment to be entrusted with the life and death, peace and war decisions a President necessarily encounters? Yes he does.

Casual observation: McCain is too old to be elected to many corporate CEO positions. Even the American Automobile Association considers 72 too old to run their business, and they don't command wars, they just find cheap gas and tow your car when you run out of it.

No matter how young you feel, you cannot pilot a 747 at 72. There are lives at stake. Just like being President.
