There a couple excellent articles in the Wall Street Journal. The first, Getting to Know John McCain by Karl Rove relates stories of Senator McCain’s character, kindness, and generousity. The second, Messages from John by Ernest C. Brace tells about his experience tapping messages between himself and John McCain when being held as a prisoner of war in Vietnam.

How hypocritical of Karl Rove to write an op-ed about the kind of man John McCain is considering he tried to destroy McCain’s opportunity to become the Republican presidential candidate in 2000 to say nothing of his reputation and that of his family. Rove and his famous flyer suggesting that John McCain had fathered a black child with a prostitute. Gosh, wasn’t that swell of Rove to do that, and now he writes an article about what a great guy Senator McCain is. What the hell changed in seven years to change Rove’s mind??? I can’t imagine that anyone will ever write an article about what a wonderful human being Karl Rove is - in fact the man is a slime. John McCain is so much more of a man than Karl Rove will ever be.

I sort of see this as Rove’s chance to redeem himself. It is a bit ironic he would discuss the adoption of Senator McCain’s daughter in this piece considering the low ball stunt he pulled in 2000, but he has a platform hopefully he choose to use it well.
