I respect McCain and I appreciate that he has gone to Iraq a few times. I don't think that makes him better prepared to be President than Obama, but I do respect he has gone there. Of course... that last time he was strolling thru the open air market claiming that things were back to normal, meanwhile...... he had soldiers around him, helicopters above him and a bullet-proof vest on. But hey, he was able to stroll thru the market. Would that make everyone feel better? If Obama walked thru a heavily guarded market place and bought a rug??? As for a McCain-Obama joint trip to Iraq.... the problem I see with that is that it would be more of a media circus that it need be. If any politician goes there, it should be about talking directly with the troops and commanders. It shouldn't be a photo-op. The Obama campaign has said he is planning a trip to Iraq after he wins the nomination. Making a big deal out of this is silly. The headlines of the two right-wing wacko publications (National Review and Red State) are ridiculous and is trying to scare people saying that Obama would rather meet with some wacko Iranian President than a U.S. soldier.
