Barack Obama: Judgment to Wait 20 Years
May 31st, 2008 at 06:45pm Matt DiBari
Barack Obama has finally resigned from Trinity United Church of Christ. Good for him.
Barack Obama, who runs on his “judgment” and really nothing else, showed us that he has the judgment to leave a hate-spewing church after attending it for twenty years. In those twenty years, he showed the judgment to expose his family, including two young daughters to this kind of nonsense on a regular basis. He showed the judgment to befriend a bigot like Jeremiah Wright, and write a book based on his ranting.
Barack Obama showed the judgment to stand by this man and his church until it was no longer politically convenient for him.
Lord know this is the guy of wishy-washy “judgment” I want this man showing when he’s sitting across the table from Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Barack Obama. Judgment to Lead.

I REALLY DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY FOLLOWERS OF SEN. OBAMA STILL BELIEVE THAT HIS ASSOCIATIONS WITH THESE CONTROVERSIAL CHARACTERS DOES NOT REFLECT HIS CHARACTER, HIS VIEWS, HIS BELIEFS. EVEN VERY REGULAR, ORDINARY PEOPLE, AND THEY DO NOT HAVE TO BE POLITICIANS, WILL NOT SHARE FRIENDSHIPS AND WILL NOT ASSOCIATE THEMSELVES WITH PEOPLE WITH WHOM THEY DO NOT SHARE THE SAME BELIEFS AND VIEWS. VERY SIMPLE AND PLAIN LOGIC, RIGHT?

I DO NOT TRUST A PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE WHO CANNOT GIVE A JUSTIFICATION WITH REGARD TO WHY HE IS ASSOCIATED WITH CONTROVERSIAL CHARACTERS WHO ARE CONSIDERED ENEMIES OF THE U.S.A. OTHER THAN HE JUST SAT WITH THESE PEOPLE ON THE BOARD OR HIS KIDS AND THEIR KIDS GO TO THE SAME SCHOOL WHEN IN FACT HE HAD SAT FOR DINNER IN THEIR HOMES AND RECEIVED FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS AND SUPPORT FROM THEM AND WHO HAD BEEN FRIENDS WITH THEM FOR AT LEAST 20 YEARS.

Does Sen. Obama really think this is the end of this. He sat there for 20 years, and he’s personal friends with Father Pfleger; he sent this man ministry pork from the U.S. Senate. I hope John Mccain is smart enough to capitalize on this. The question is will the media give Obama another pass on this one. Sen. Obama is clearly a politician.

STRANGELY, I FIND YOUR COMMENTS SELF RIGHTEOUS, LIKE MOST OF THE MEDIA ATTACKING THE PASTOR, THE PRIEST- WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO FREEDOM OF SPEECH. STRANGELY, I SEE NO COMMENTS ON SEN CLINTONS RECKLESS RACIAL INUENDOS THAT SHE SPEAKS HERSELF FROM HER OWN LIPS, NOT WHAT OTHERS HAVE SAID. PARENTS ARENT EVEN RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT THEIR CHILDREN SAY AND DO, HOW IS IT THAT SENATOR OBAMA IS RESPONSIBLE FOR EVERY THING ANYONE WHO HE ASSOCIATES WITH SAYS! IT IS NOT SO MUCH BIGOTRY AS IT IS STUPIDITY AND IT ANGERS ME BECAUSE IT IS SO BLATANT. THAT’S WHY THE WHITE PRIEST CHOSE TO SPEAK OUT AGAINST IT. HE’S CRUCIFIED AND YET I WATCH ALL THE LATE NIGHT COMEDY ANCHORS AND THEY ARE SAYING THE SAME THINGS, GETTING PAID FOR IT AND THAT’S OK!!!!!!!!!

This is too self-evidently a product of political necessity and not honest conviction or real repugnance that it won’t pull the wool over anyone’s eyes who hasn’t already let him do so.

I have an uncle I have known for 20 years. If he were a hate mongering racist I would have known it long ago and I am not a real smrrt guy!

Shows he has no principles, does things that are convenient to further his ambition. Did you read how he got others of the ballot on technicalities in his first race in Chicago in 1996. Shows what kind of person he is. He is just another crooked, morally bankrupt politician.

As usual Obama doesn’t do the right thing until he is backed into a corner and it is going to cost him
votes.
Big deal he FINALLY resigned from the church.
What is to stop him from rejoining the very same
church if he gets elected. Afterall, we see he is a
man of excuses and spin and nothing more.
I fully believe he will rejoin the church because his
wife’s university thesis (which is available online)
is full of Rev Wright’s beliefs. It’s as if the Rev.
held her pen in her hand and guided it on the
pages.

20 years sitting, with his family in an anti-American, racist, black liberation church. Now, Obama supporters are trying to make us believe it’s not an important issue. Well, it goes directly to what Obama believes, his character, how he sees America, and much more. And, enough with the thin response of what about Hagee? These extremist religious associates were not merely endorsements, Obama was deeply involved with these scary people for over 20 years. The fact that Obama finally quit the church, obviously for political expediency, only means that Obama has little integrity, and will do or say anything to get elected.

The most concerning part of this for me is that everyone is glad that he is finally denouncing his affiliation with such a racist and negative church. My question to all Obama supporters is this: If he was a proud member of this church for 20 years, why wouldn’t he denounce his membership upon hearing these comments the first time? All people do not become racist or bigots overnight. A man does not wake up one morning and suddenly feel that a specific race, gender, sexuality or religion is superior to another. If Obama was truly a pioneer for equality, he would not have stayed with such a church for so long. As a long time Democratic supporter, I can tell you that his affiliation with this church and its people make me no longer support my party if he is, in fact, nominated as the Democratic candidate.

I COULD CARE LESS WHAT THE PASTOR, THE GUEST SAY. IT WASN’T OBAMA SO IT DOESN’T MATTER TO ME.
I’M SURE HILLARY IS STILL FRIENDS WITH FERRARO A FRIENDSHIP OF MANY YEARS.
THESE ARE SIMPLY DISRACTIONS/TRICKS FROM THE POLITICAL PERSPECTIVE OF HILLARY & MCCAIN.
ALL I CARE ABOUT IS THIS ECONOMY AND GETTING HILLARY OUT OF THE RACE SINCE ALL SHE BRINGS IS CHAOS AND FRANKLY I’M EXHAUSTED BY HEARING ABOUT IT.
12. Female Voter | June 1st, 2008 at 10:11 pm
Let’s talk about McCain’s slips and Hillary’s forgetfullness or her story telling to work up the sympathy vote.
Maybe we should talk about how Bill used his charming speeches to get elected and abused his power in office with interns while he should have been using his time working out solutions for us…… I’m tired like Obama said of these political games.
WE ALL LIVE IN THIS SAME COUNTRY WHETHER ANYONE LIKES IT OR NOT. WE ARE A COUNTRY MIXED WITH CULTURES. Our cultures have mixed racially. There probably isn’t a one ethnic group anymore. I am Latin mixed with Black. I have family who have married white so WHO CARES ABOUT RACE IS JUST THOSE OLD TIMERS WITH THAT PAST DOWN HATRED.
Hatred is not good for this country. LET’S STOP TALKING RACE AND TALK ABOUT WORKING OUT SOME ISSUES. THE TERRORISTS ARE THE ENEMY. We need a country UNITED not DIVIDED.

Most white people think all blacks are Baptist but I am an African-American who was born to Catholic parents, raised in the Catholic Church, and educated in parochial schools from kindergarten through high school. My dear parents were very involved in every aspect of the our church from the Altar Rosary society to any other elements of the Catholic Church. I was approximately 16 yrs old when I first attended what white people call a “black” church. I was hesitant because I did not know what to expect and was not accustomed to any non-Catholics services. I realized over the years from attending non-Catholic wedding or memorial services that Karl Malden Pollyanna-esque sermons is a preaching style embraced by many black churches. For the news media and all other inward looking hypocrites to “sit there” (a term often used to reference Senator Obama’s religious commitment), and without rationale repeatedly censure Senator Obama’s spirituality is completely beyond comprehension. What’s more, Father Pfleger’s parody about Hillary Clinton is no call for insult particularly since he spoke an apparent truth that I concluded a while ago when Hillary started her tireless, transparent press of convincing America that she is the “One”. This debacle transcends religious prejudice when any individual is forced to denounce and surrender their church affiliation, not for unethical reasons, but because white America is offended by reality. This entire media circus brought on by media personalities that I once respected and self-appointed political pundits would have never transpired if the Senator or his spiritual adviser were white.

Keep blathering and showing your outrage about pastors and churches.
Meanwhile……….
Total American military fatalities in Iraq since March 2003: 4083
Total coalition fatalities in that period: 4397
Total American military fatalities in Afghanistan since 2001: 513.
Total coalition fatalities in that period: 837
Total war-related Afghan fatalities in that period: Unknown
Total suicides among men and women who have served in Iraq since then: Uncertain. The Army reported Thursday that the suicide rate has increased this year, just as it increased in 2007 over 2006.
Total Iraqi fatalities because of the invasion and occupation: Uncertain - 200,000 to 1.4 million
How many TRILLIONS spent???
Let’s not show any outrage about the disaster that is the Iraq War. Let’s stay there for years to come.
But churches and pastors… now THAT is something to be outraged about!
I have to believe that McCain would not be as
completely incompetent as the current President, but when it comes to Iraq, McCain is just another 4 years of Bush.

What I can’t understand is the premise that if you hear something that translates to belief! That’s a weak stance at best. Also. please explain how Obama has any control over what other people say or do. This quilt by association I think is wrong, but Obama has hundreds of friends and co-workers that are with him everyday. Seems short sighted to only use three or four people- out of hundrens to define him! This is wrong and shamefull!
16. Rebecca | June 2nd, 2008 at 10:34 am
Okay all you McCain Supporters, I really feel sorry for you and i am also very disappointed that we as Americans care more about what pastors say instead of concentrating on ending the War. So what if Obama sat in that church for 20years? Would you reject you parents simply because they say something that you do not agree with? I do not think that during the 20years that Obama went to that church they talked about racism all the time. People are entitled to say what they believe to be the truth. You should give him credit for making a difficult decision for the benefit of America. He is trying to bring about change in this country and that means compromising and letting go of some things that are dear to you to achieve your goal. I don’t care what you think might be the real reason behind it. you can draw all the conclusions you want, but it is not the truth. The last comments were not said by a black man but a fellow white man like me. That should tell you something. Obama is not Black or White. He is Both, no matter what you want to think. That is not going to change the fact the he has white and black genes. The empasis being AND. So Suck it up and concentrate on what is more important. Leave the IRAQIS ALONE AND BRING OUR TROOPS HOME. We do not want another BUSH in this country. We need new Blood.

The right has to distort something about Obama, that is all they have to run on. This makes you look really desperate and scared. To say Obama ?..expose his family, including two young daughters to this kind of nonsense on a regular basis.? Is simply a flat out lie. There is no evidence to suggest that the few comments made where ever made in his presence. In 20 years of church, not one single person to witness what the right simply assumes was a daily event, despite all evidence showing otherwise. (Just like they did in Iraq)
Anyone having a problem with Obama staying in a church that said or did things he did not agree on needs to explain why anyone left in the Catholic Church is not a pedophile.
It went on in your church for 20 years and the Church defended it, ?Surely you HAD to know?. You stay there and expose your kids to that.
How sad that the Right has fallen so far as to have to attack the church of a candidate out of desperation and fear. So do you agree with the pastor that McSame actively pursued after he said that ?Satan was a homsexual jew?? Yeah that?s leadership for you!

“I can no more disown Rev Wright …” OOps! I resign. Wow Incredible. It took him 20 years to understand what I understood after one 30 second sound bite.
