So THIS is why he picked Joe Biden

August 25th, 2008 at 08:12pm Matt DiBari

Ever since Senator Barack Obama selected Senator Joe Biden as his running mate, the talking heads have been listing the possible logic behind the selection. On the surface, a candidate that screams about change probably shouldn’t select a man that has been in Washington since Richard Nixon was President. The accepted answer seems to be that Biden’s thirty-six years in Washington will help bolster Obama’s non-existent foreign policy credentials. But the Chcago Sun-Times may have the real answer.

They have mutual friends.

When the Delaware senator began contemplating his own 2008 presidential run, he initially was helped by Chicago lawyer Joseph Cari Jr., who also served as Biden’s Midwest field director in his failed 1988 bid for president.

In 2005, Cari admitted to taking part in an $850,000 kickback scheme that prosecutors say was part of a larger political fund-raising operation for Gov. Blagojevich overseen by Rezko, who was convicted in June of wide-ranging corruption involving state deals.

It appears that Joe Biden shares Barack Obama’s famed “judgment to lead.”

    Holy crap Matt.

When you actually have something that says both Obama and Biden took part in that scheme, then bring it up. Just because they both knew someone that admitted to taking a kickback, that doesn’t mean they did anything wrong at all.

Good grief. This just makes you look silly.

Since there is nothing good to say about McCain and his policies and you can’t tear down Obama on his policies… all you can do is try and link Obama/Biden to corrupt people to make them look corrupt themselves.

    It isn’t going to work.

If Barack Obama continues to bring up the number of houses that John McCain has as an issue, I will continue to bring up the criminal activities and associates of the man that Obama bought his mansion with.

  • 4. Joe  |  August 26th, 2008 at 9:01 pm

Matt, that is bull and you know it. Obama didn’t “buy his house” with anyone and you know it.

The whole reason McCain’s houses gets brought up is because he keeps trying to paint Obama as an elitist….. I guess because Obama only owns 1 house instead of multiple houses. Or maybe it is because Obama only made $4.5 million although McCain (in his own words) believes you are not “RICH” unless you make over $5 million.

So if it makes you feel better to flat out lie to try and take down your opponent, go on and knock yourself out, but people see thru that.
If you actually want to see your guy win based on HIS merits and policies, then I welcome the debate.

obama has policies? magical energy tire gauge policies?

I have yet to see an article on digg from liberal democrats comparing and contrasting energy policies, taxes, health care etc…

You know why ? because when you argue simple numbers and facts there is no content to any of obama’s plans… It starts with change !!!! then ….

Then McCain eats babies… vote for obama…

    BIDENS PAST PLAGERISMS AND EXAGGERATIONS
In September 1987, the campaign ran into trouble when he plagiarized a speech by Neil Kinnock, then-leader of the British Labour Party. Kinnock’s speech included the lines: “Why am I the first Kinnock in a thousand generations to be able to get to university?” Then pointing to his wife in the audience, he continued: “Why is Glenys the first woman in her family in a thousand generations to be able to get to university? Was it because all our predecessors were thick?” While Biden’s speech included the lines: “I started thinking as I was coming over here, why is it that Joe Biden is the first in his family ever to go to a university?” Then, pointing to his wife: “Why is it that my wife who is sitting out there in the audience is the first in her family to ever go to college? Is it because our fathers and mothers were not bright? Is it because I’m the first Biden in a thousand generations to get a college and a graduate degree that I was smarter than the rest?” Though Biden had previously cited Kinnock as the source for the formulation many times before, he made no reference to the original source at the August 23 debate in question.

It was also discovered that, while a law student at Syracuse Law School, Biden had plagiarized a law review article. Though the then-dean of the law school, as well as Biden’s former professor, played down the incident, they did find Biden drew “chunks of heavy legal prose directly from” the article in question. Biden said it was inadvertent due to his not knowing the proper rules of citation, and Biden was permitted to retake the course after receiving a grade of F, which was subsequently dropped from his record. Biden also released his undergraduate grades, which were unexceptional. When questioned by a New Hampshire resident about his grades in law school, Biden had inaccurately recollected graduating in the “top half” of his class when he actually graduated 76th from 85, that he had attended on a full scholarship, and had received three degrees. He had received two majors, History and Political Science, and a single B.A., as well as a half scholarship based on financial need.[35] Faced with these revelations, Biden withdrew from the nomination race on September 23, 1987, saying his candidacy had been overrun by “the exaggerated shadow” of his past mistakes.

I will not vote for McCain. What a disappointment. This guy and his campaign are the worst organized train wreck. I will see you in 4 years when we have a real candidate. His campaign took the bait by running the attacks on Obama. The house issue is not that he is rich..it is that he cannot remember how many homes he has. If he lacks the mental capacity to remember how many homes he and his wife own…he does not deserve to be president. He also by not answering this question looked as if he could not think for himself…something that I have suspected for awhile. This bama boy will sit this one out. Wake me up when the RNC has a real leader to run in 2012.
