Joe- This is mt complaint. These "objective" organizations are not fact checking their interpreting. The ad never says there isn't an 'age appropriate' caveat. It never says students can't opt-out. What it does state are direct quotes, with the exception of the 'one accomplishment' remark. If these organizations are going to claim objectivity they need to stick to what is in the ad.

Joe- you said "apparently because you have an issue with gays"

I really don't have an issue with gays, if they want to be gay, fine, go be gay at a gay bar or someplace like that. But Don't sneak gay propaganda into childrens books at public schools.

Then we have Obama, HRC, and Edwards Say their OK with the schools showing books like that to 2nd graders on a Live DNC debate, that half the country seen and remembered.

I'm just trying to refresh peoples memories here.

Eric –

No sex, regardless if it is gay sex or straight sex, should be taught at that young age. There shouldn’t be pictures of anyone kissing regardless of color, sex or anything else for young kids. My point is that you are more upset that it is GAY rather than the fact that it is SEX. You have an issue with gays. That is your prerogative, but don’t push your opinion on others.

My point about the mixed race is that not even 40 years ago people would be outraged if the school showed a picture of a mixed race family(nevermind kissing) just as you are so outraged of the possibility that kids are shown a picture of a gay family. Again, apparently because you have an issue with gays. There are gay people, like it or not. That is not going to change.

I am still perplexed why you jumped onto gay sex being taught when that wasn’t the point of the whole post nor was it the point that John McCain was “trying” to make about Obama. Then again, maybe this was his objective is to get people like you to jump to the theory that Democrats want kids to “learn how to be gay”.

KM –
Why do you say they[CNN] clearly didn’t read the bill? Did you actually read it? Here are the relevant parts…

SB 99: However, no pupil shall be required to take or participate in any family life class or course on HIV AIDS or family life instruction if his parent or guardian submits written objection thereto, and refusal to take or participate in such course or program shall not be reason for suspension or expulsion of such pupil.

The bill also called for all sex education course materials to include information that would help students recognize, among other activities, inappropriate touching, sexual assault and rape:

SB99: Course material and instruction shall discuss and provide for the development of positive communication skills to maintain healthy relationships and avoid unwanted sexual activity. ... Course material and instruction shall teach pupils ... how to say no to unwanted sexual advances ... and shall include information about verbal, physical, and visual sexual harassment, including without limitation nonconsensual sexual advances, nonconsensual physical sexual contact, and rape by an acquaintance. The course material and instruction shall contain methods of preventing sexual assault by an acquaintance, including exercising good judgment and avoiding behavior that impairs one's judgment.

From the bill itself…

All sex education courses that discuss sexual activity or behavior shall satisfy the following criteria:
(1) Factual information presented in course material and instruction shall be medically accurate and objective.
(2) All (1) course material and instruction shall be age and developmentally appropriate.
(3) Course material and instruction shall include a discussion of sexual abstinence as a method to prevent unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, including HIV.
(4) Course material and instruction shall present the latest medically factual information regarding both the possible side effects and health benefits of all forms of contraception, including the success and failure rates for the prevention of pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, including HIV.
(5) Course material and instruction shall include a discussion of the possible consequences of unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, including HIV.

This from Politifact…

John McCain released an ad this week making the accusation that Barack Obama supports sex education for five-year-olds.
…
Obama said that he did not support telling youngsters about explicit information about sex. The bill specifically mentions that instructional material must be age appropriate. It specifically mentions teaching children how to "say no to unwanted sexual advances" and "nonconsensual physical sexual contact." The legislation was not sponsored by Obama and it didn't pass, so calling it one of his "accomplishments" is absurd. We rate this claim Pants on Fire!

Joe- Some cultures have arranged marriages (Indians), I noticed with alot of immigrants in my area, the Arabs won't let their daughters go out with American guys, they can date only Arabs.
Joe-What would you say to that, would you tell them they are backwards and wrong?

Some people are Ok with mixed marriages, some are not. Guess you gotta respect both sides, some folks might be proud of their culture and heritage.

Joe, when women come up to me and ask if I'm looking for some action. I find that some are attractive and some aren't. Regardless of race, some women just have a pretty face or perfect body or both. Others may not, it is really just personal preference

Joe- you said "You didn’t answer my questions above. if it was a black man and a white woman, would you be ok with that?"

What does this got to do with 2nd graders being exposed to gay childrens literature??

Are you hoping I will say something racist, to get off topic. I won't!

I work in the inner city. Attractive Women of all races, ask me if I need a date, all the time. I'm married so I say "No thanks."

My issue is with CNN. They were 'outraged' at McCain's 'lying', and went on and on about how it's up to journalist to report on these 'lies'. The bill is what it is, and they clearly didn't read it. What they did apparently read was the Obama campaign's response as they parroted it almost word for word. Frankly I don't blame the Obama campaign for their response. Campaign's will obviously put their most favorable spin on an issue. What I'm ticked off about is that CNN is full of it. Jeffery Toobin, who was probably the most worked up, is a lawyer and he obviously didn't read the bill.

While I do think kindergarten is far too young for this type of proposal, and I'm not a real fan of this style of ad, what I find completely objectionable is CNN's behavior.

I've read it at least three times now Eric AND I watched it live.

Obama:

“The fact is, my 9-year-old and my 6-year-old I think are already aware that there are same-sex couples,” the Illinois senator told the debate. “One of the things I want to communicate to my children is not to be afraid of people who are different. …. One of the things I think the next president has to do is stop fanning people’s fears. If we spend all our time feeding the American people fear and conflict and division, then they become fearful and conflicted and divided.”

Or what Edwards said...

Second grade might be a little tough, but even in second grade to be exposed to all those possibilities, because I don’t want to impose my view. Nobody made me God.”

Eric, don't take this the wrong way, but what Obama voted for in the Illinois Senate was NOT to teach someone how to be gay and it isn't anything at all what McCain made it out to be.

I think this comment by you....
"Let’s say after exposing 2nd graders to these books, you found out, boys were kissing each other out on recess, and playing with each others privates."

That is just so absolutely foolish.

You didn't answer my questions above. if it was a black man and a white woman, would you be ok with that?
As long as you may answer that one, how about I turn this one on you...
If you see a black boy and a white girl "playing with each others privates", would that be ok??

I can't even believe I am having this assinine conversation with you.

Joe-

Read it again!

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,298307,00.html

Obama, Hillary, and Edwards, all had no problem allowing public schools to pollute 2nd graders minds with homosexual propaganda.

Young kids are impressionable, it sounds like some on the far left are trying to indoctrinate young kids to be gay or something here. If I was moderating that debate, after that response, I'd have asked these three politicans
" Let's say after exposing 2nd graders to these books, you found out, boys were kissing each other out on recess, and playing with each others privates." "Would you celebrate these results as reaching a new level of diversity and multiculturalism?"

If you don't believe this, find the debate and watch it again. It is clear as day. Joe, they are trying to encourage kids to be gay.

Give me a friggin' break Eric. NOBODY is teaching anyone how to be gay which is really what you are so worried about.

My first question to you is this... the issue here is about "sex education", not GAY sex education. Why do you automatically jump to the conclusion that Democrats want to teach gay sex to kids???

No story to 2nd graders should consist of pictures of anyone kissing.

Let me ask you a second question... should there be a picture of a mixed race couple? Would you have a problem with that? If there was a picture of a black man and a white woman kissing, would you be as outraged?

You need to face facts that like it or not (apparently you don't like it), gays exist in this world. But taht is not what this is about. The issue is that McCain claims Obama wants to teach the SAME sex ed to K-12 school kids. that is a flat out lie.
